Anyone keeping count of how many Republicans our Democratic POTUS has selected for his cabinet or other high positions? I'm thinking this is the 3rd or
4th Republican he has chosen.
Were there any Democrats in the Bushco administration???? Another fine selection by our exceptional new President, IMHO. Kudos! |

Since I stirred a bit of controversy with my multiple thread question, best I make it up by adding to the discussion this once.
Interesting article in the right wing Politico site over this: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22597.html You can read this on your own, but it implies that the pick of Huntsman "strips the Republican party of one of its few voices urging moderation" and removes a possible moderate republican candidate from running against Obama in 2012, leaving only the extremist right wingers. If true, very shrewd. Best quote is from Rep. Tom Davis: "It says in spades what is the problem with our party - we're driving out the heretics, and they're looking for converts." |

James, I think you need to talk to a professional to help you sort out your feelings on the issue of race. You seem incredibly hung up on it.
Our LAST TWO Secretaries of State were black. These same two individuals also held previously the positions of National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. This country's current Attorney General is black, as is our nation's Ambassador to the United Nations. And the current President of the United States is black! That's a lot of high level positions considering that blacks only represent 12.7% of the population. I think Asians and especially Latinos have a more legitimate gripe about the lack of representation in our government than you do. |

I actually I think gays have more of a gripe.
He should pick a black Jewish lesbian to the US Supreme Court. |
